I recommend the following websites to fiction writers, whether you’re in the first stages writing or all set to query or publish. Please note, some of these resources may require a log-in or membership.
LITERARY AGENT LISTINGS
Query Tracker (also has a great tool to track your outstanding queries)
And don’t forget to check out Writer Beware at SFWA (for some are not who they appear to be)
Purdue Online Writing Lab (Purdue OWL)
EDITING: CRITIQUERS & BETA READERS
Critique Circle (under reconstruction 2020, so this link may expire)
Word-it-Out (Create word clouds & identify overused/crutch words)
One Stop For Writers: Everything from characters to writer’s block, worldbuilding to emotional wounds
WORD PROCESSING & FORMATTING
I’ve been using this for about 3 years now, and have had more success with it than with the paid WP applications. It’s essentially plain vanilla WP, simple and straightforward, easy to use. It will save your writing in Word if you wish, and you can export directly to PDF or EPUB. If you don’t need bells and whistles, go ahead and give it a try!
